Our Mission

Women in Film and Television Atlanta (WIFTA) is dedicated to improving the status and portrayal of women in film, television, video, and other screen-based media by offering opportunities for mediamakers to connect, create, champion, and inspire.  With an emphasis on education and training, we support the work of women in moving images media, fostering greater public awareness of their efforts and encourage high standards of professionalism.  We are champions of advocacy and networking engaging our members and the community as evidenced by our award-winning PSA Program through which members gain valuable production experience while being of service to their local communities.

Who We Are

Women in Film and Television Atlanta (WIFTA) is a Georgia non-profit member-based professional organization affiliated with other national and international Women in Film chapters around the world. Since our inception in 1974, the Atlanta chapter has proudly had a membership community of multi-generational and culturally diverse professionals, which include producers, directors, actors, entertainment attorneys, camera and sound technicians, film editors, graphic design artists, make-up artists, wardrobe specialists, screenwriters, talent agents and casting directors.  In addition to individuals, members also include corporations and organizations interested in supporting and promoting the creativity and skills that women bring to the film, television and screen-based media industry. Equally impressive is our ability to service both the industry novices or students as well as the seasoned professionals who comprise our ever expanding membership.

What We Offer

  • Educational Programs and Professional Development: Our informative monthly programs arm members and visitors with the skills necessary to tackle a changing market.
  • Promotion of Technical & Production Related Careers: WIFTA fosters future generations of women pursuing technical and production related careers by awarding an annual scholarship to a deserving female member pursuing a degree in film related studies.
  • Public Awareness Campaign: Our award-winning Public Service Announcement (PSA) Program gives a voice to a local charitable organization desperately in need of exposure and support while providing our members hands-on production experience as they give back to the community.
  • Productive Partnership Cultivation: We provide networking opportunities where members get the opportunity to meet with those active in the industry.
  • Web Site and E-blast Campaign: Our Web site and e-blast campaign provide essential information to our members, sponsor organizations and community.
  • Global Affiliation: Through our global affiliation with Women In Film and Television International (WIFTI), all of our members have access to the WIFTI Online International Membership Directory and can connect with other Women In Film members around the world.

Our Core Values:

  1. Promote creative achievement in film, video, television, and related media arts.
  2. Maintain a supportive and collaborative media arts community in the Southeast.
  3. Continue dedication to the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
